The Park Theater originally opened in 1938, and managed to survive as a movie theater up until 2003. With the help of a Restore, NY grant, the Avon Park Theater has been transformed into a truly unique destination in the area. The Avon Park Theater is your destination for the best in Rochester area music, classic and independent movies, as well as a truly unique and functional private party and event space.
Children are welcome at the Avon Park Theater but must be accompanied by an adult. There may be certain shows open only to those 21 and up and it will be noted in event description. At this time, we do not offer children's birthday parties.
Tickets for all upcoming events are sold online as well as at the theater box office. The box office is open up to 1 hour prior to all events.
For live music we strongly encourage you to purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. You may purchase tickets online, or at the box office before any event. We rely on the revenue from ticket sales to pay our bands, so in addition to ensuring that you won't be disappointed at the door, tickets will be $5 more when purchased at the door before a show.
Movie tickets are sold online and at the door.
All ticket sales are final: no refunds or exchanges. If a performance is cancelled due to weather conditions or other circumstances, refunds will be issued by the theater.
The theater has been renovated to be accessible to all. If you have questions, or would like to request more information to ensure you are prepared for your visit please contact us a few days in advance to ensure we have an opportunity to respond.
We are located at 71 Genesee Street in the heart of the village of Avon. If coming from points north or south, take Exit 10 off I-390. We are located just south of the Rte 5 & 20 traffic circle.

On July 30th, 1938, a grand parade was held to celebrate the opening of Avon's newest Park Theater. This new theater replaced the original Park Theater built circa 1912 as a nickelodeon theater. In describing the new theater, manager Clair Meachum proclaimed that 'Everything is being arranged not so much for show and ornamentation, but rather for the comfort of the people who are attendant at the shows.' The 'new' Park Theater would feature seats that were larger and more comfortable than any in Rochester and would also be one of the first theaters in the entire area to have air conditioning.
The Avon Park Theater has been completely renovated and re-imagined as a modern venue for classic and independent movies, live music and entertainment, and a unique venue for your next party, meeting or corporate event. In the spirit of its founder Clair Meachum, we've arranged it all for the comfort of the people who are attendant at…the Avon Park Theater!
